Sha-Ruk is a Jedi Apprentice of the New Jedi Order. He grew up in the large Human colony of Yaartsek, where his parents ran a little tailoring business and tried to stay out of the Imperial occupiers' way. When the boy's Force-sensivity was discovered, they moved to Ord Mantell with him to be near him while he was living in the Jedi Temple to receive his training.
Sha-Ruk has proven himself an insightful, eager Padawan at the temple, but at the age of 22 found himself wanting more than being on Ord Mantell all the time. When pregnant pop singer and Sith widow Serenella Jordain found refuge at the temple to await the birth of her baby, he struck up an unlikely friendship with the young blonde. She told him of planets he had never seen and he gave her some comfort and peace to come to terms with what happened in her life, especially her short and ill-fated marriage.
A few weeks after the birth of her Force-sensitive daughter Tara Jordain in 16 ABY, Serenella decided to return to work for Adventure Cruiselines aboard the Angry Rancor cruise ship. Sha-Ruk sought and got permission from the Jedi council to accompany them to protect Tara from potential kidnapping attempts by the Sith and gain experience outside the temple.
